Fire Chief Boscaino Highlights Safety and Training Role in Italy’s Energy Transition

Giampietro Boscaino, director central of fire‑prevention for Italy’s national fire service, said the corps is “engaged on the front line in defining safety rules that accompany the energy transition, from electric mobility to LNG.” Speaking at the Assogasliquidi‑Federchimica assembly at the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, he explained that the fire service coordinates technical tables that draft regulations for new systems, covering topics such as vehicle garages, electric‑vehicle parking and LNG‑ship bunkering.

Boscaino stressed that safety also depends on specialised training, noting that “when we define the rules we have two objectives: protect citizens and ensure that operators called to intervene are properly prepared,” and adding that “a third essential aspect is the training of maintenance personnel.” The fire service’s role therefore combines rule‑making with the development of specific training programmes for operators handling emerging technologies.
