Rome and Paris lead European cities in tourist attraction wait times
Research from TUI Musement indicates that travelers visiting popular European cities face significant queues at major attractions. Rome has been identified as the city with the longest cumulative waiting times, where visitors may spend more than eight hours in line across five major attractions during peak periods. The Vatican Museums are noted as a primary source of delays, with wait times reaching up to three and a half hours.
Other major destinations including Paris, Budapest, Venice, and Seville also report approximately seven hours of potential cumulative waiting time. To mitigate these delays, the study suggests several strategies:
In Paris, using the Carrousel entrance at the Louvre can be faster than the Pyramid entrance. In Budapest, travelers may face longer lines at the Széchenyi Thermal Baths due to closures at the Gellért Baths, making advance booking or alternative sites like the Rudas Baths advisable. For Venice, visiting the Doge’s Palace before 10:00 or later in the afternoon is recommended to avoid crowds.
