Rome authorities rescue two horses found in severe neglect

Authorities in Rome rescued two horses found in critical condition in the Marcigliana area. The animals were discovered without food or water, exposed to the sun within a fenced area that was secured by a locked iron gate.

Local police, supported by the fire department and veterinary services, intervened after receiving reports of the animals' suffering. One horse was found lying on the ground, unable to stand, and both appeared malnourished. Firefighters provided temporary shade for the distressed animal while veterinary personnel administered initial care.

A 78-year-old man has been charged with abandoning animals in conditions that caused severe suffering. The horses have been seized and transferred to a specialized facility to receive necessary medical assistance and recovery care.
