Rome authorities suspend Trastevere restaurant following inspections
Authorities in Rome have suspended operations at the Osteria Nannarella in the Trastevere district following inspections by labor and health officials. The police headquarters reported the suspension, a formal complaint against the owner, and sanctions totaling 90,000 euros. Official reports cited issues including inadequate security, pest infestations in the kitchen, and the use of irregular labor.
The management of the establishment has contested the findings, stating that all 75 employees are full-time staff and that pests were limited to the waste storage area. They also noted a 2,500 euro fine related to emergency planning rather than the larger sums reported.
In the same area, the establishment Cencio La Parolaccia was also inspected, resulting in 4,000 euros in contested fines and requirements to repair the electrical system.
