Italy addresses social welfare, healthcare, and demographic challenges

Italy is addressing various social and healthcare challenges through new policy proposals and welfare strategies. Daniele Damele, president of the Fasi healthcare fund, emphasized prevention as a key strategy for healthy aging and economic sustainability for the fund, which serves 130,000 members.

In terms of social support, Vice Premier Matteo Salvini announced a 60 million euro experimental fund for rent contributions aimed at separated parents, noting that over 13,000 requests have already been made. He also proposed a cap on the accumulation of ISEE-linked bonuses to prevent misuse.

Regarding the national healthcare system, Senator Ignazio Zullo criticized the Gimbe Foundation's approach, arguing that instead of merely requesting more funding, efforts should focus on studying waste and efficiency within healthcare companies. Meanwhile, the Senior Economy Open Day in Rome called for a shift in language to avoid labeling all citizens over 65 as 'elderly,' highlighting their continued professional and social contributions. Additionally, Antonio Mastrapasqua's new book explores the demographic decline and proposes reforms to the labor market and pension systems to support younger generations.
