Rome faces fire, rail strikes, and major traffic disruptions

Rome is experiencing several major disruptions affecting transportation and safety. A large fire in the Portuense area on via Isacco Newton has forced the closure of multiple access ramps and caused significant traffic diversions as firefighters work to contain the flames.

Public transportation is also heavily impacted. A 24-hour national railway strike is scheduled to run from the evening of Monday, September 7, until the evening of Tuesday, September 8, affecting regional, Intercity, and High-Speed trains. Additionally, modernization work on the Metromare line is ongoing, with evening and night services replaced by shuttle buses from Monday to Friday.

Ongoing infrastructure projects include night closures of the via Torrevecchia underpass and upcoming road reductions at Piazza dei Giureconsulti near via Boccea. Other disruptions include maintenance on the Flaminio-Montebello railway line and scheduled demonstrations in the Ostiense area.
