Rome Film Fest opens with Paolo Genovese film

The 21st Rome Film Fest opened on October 13, 2026, with the premiere of Paolo Genovese’s new film, ‘Il rumore delle cose nuove’. The film, which is an adaptation of Genovese’s 2023 novel, is scheduled for a wide theatrical release in Italy on November 12, 2026, distributed by 01 Distribution.

Set in Milan, the narrative follows three different couples who find their stagnant routines and unexpressed feelings disrupted by an unexpected event. The ensemble cast includes Stefano Accorsi, Vittoria Puccini, Claudia Pandolfi, Edoardo Pesce, Emanuela Fanelli, Lino Musella, and Claudio Santamaria.

The opening red carpet event featured a significant presence of Italian musical artists alongside the film's cast, highlighting the festival's tendency to blend cinema, music, and culture.
