Rome Fiumicino Airport completes €250 million Terminal 3 upgrade

Rome’s Leonardo da Vinci International Airport (Fiumicino) has undergone a significant €250 million ($409 million) overhaul of Terminal 3, completed in 2025. The renovation features high ceilings, skylights, and increased natural light, aimed at reducing congestion for long-haul carriers such as Qantas, British Airways, Emirates, and Singapore Airlines.

Travelers moving between the airport and central Rome have several transport options. The Leonardo Express train provides a 30-minute connection to Termini Station for €14, while regional trains like the FL1 serve various stations outside the city center. For direct transit, passengers can utilize taxis or pre-booked private transfers, which may be more suitable for those with heavy luggage or specific destination requirements.
