Rome Health Achieves Zero MRSA Bloodstream Infections

Rome Health was one of only 312 hospitals nationwide to report zero methicillin‑resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) bloodstream infections for the federal reporting period covering July 2024 through June 2025, according to data released by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services on May 13.

The hospital credited the result to rigorous infection‑prevention practices, continuous staff education, and regular monitoring. "This achievement reflects the commitment of every member of our care team to protecting our patients," said Katie Friot, director of infection prevention at Rome Health.

The figures come from the federal Healthcare‑Associated Infections Hospital database, which tracks infections using the standardized infection ratio developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and reported through the National Healthcare Safety Network. Rome Health’s ongoing surveillance and adherence to nationally recognized safety guidelines were highlighted as key factors in maintaining the zero‑infection rate.
