Italy launches cinema-driven tourism and cultural initiatives
Italy is launching several cultural and institutional initiatives centered on cinema. At the Rome Film Festival, Tourism Minister Gianmarco Mazzi introduced ‘Che spettacolo l’Italia! What a movie Italia is!’, a project designed to promote Italian destinations through ‘film turismo’. These short audiovisual contents, ranging from 5 to 10 minutes, will feature actors and directors describing the locations where their films or series were shot. The initiative, coordinated with ENIT SpA, includes a budget of up to 400,000 euros for production.
Other significant cultural events include the fifth edition of the Bolognini Prize in Rome, which will honor Franco Nero with a Lifetime Achievement Award. The ceremony aims to celebrate cinematic talent and technical mastery, with new international collaborations planned to expand its reach to Paris and Europe.
In Naples, the historic Supercinema in San Giovanni a Teduccio is undergoing recovery, marked by the ‘Prossima Fermata: SuperNEST’ program featuring cinema, theater, and music. Additionally, the Nuovo Olimpia cinema in Rome is reopening with seasonal programs dedicated to New York cinema, John Cassavetes, silent film, and Emmanuel Carrère. To support the Rome Film Festival, the city has also implemented sustainable mobility services, including a free ‘Linea Cinema’ bus service.
