Rome offers exclusive access to Porta del Popolo terrace
Rome is offering exceptional access to the Porta del Popolo, allowing visitors to enter the monument and ascend to its panoramic terrace. The free guided tour is scheduled for Wednesday, August 26, starting at 7:00 PM. Due to limited capacity, only 15 participants are permitted per session, and mandatory reservations must be made via telephone.
The tour includes a historical reconstruction of the monument, which features architectural contributions from Nanni di Baccio Bigio and Gian Lorenzo Bernini. The terrace offers views of Piazza del Popolo, the Tridente, and Via Flaminia. The site also serves as the documentation center for the UNESCO Rome site.
In a separate cultural development, a new book by Stella Maresca and Antonio Doldo explores the evolution of street art in Rome and the Lazio region. The work traces the history of wall markings from Roman-era graffiti and Renaissance decorations to contemporary urban art projects like the Museo di Arte Urbana di Roma (M.U.Ro), highlighting how street art has transitioned from political dissent to a tool for urban redevelopment and historical memory.
