Rome official denounces taxi driver fraud at Termini station
Alessandro Onorato, Rome's assessor for tourism, sports, and fashion, has publicly denounced taxi drivers at Roma Termini station for engaging in fraudulent practices against tourists.
In a viral video, Onorato accused certain drivers of bypassing the official taxi queue to target travelers. He alleged that these drivers avoid using the official taximeter to charge significantly higher, unauthorized rates. Onorato stated that these actions damage the reputation of the city and the entire taxi category.
Following these incidents, formal complaints have been submitted to the Public Prosecutor's Office. During a confrontation at the station, Onorato noted that the legitimate taxi queue had reached approximately 300 meters in length.
