Rome officials inaugurate renovated Lepanto Metro A station

Rome Mayor Roberto Gualtieri and Mobility Councilor Eugenio Patanè officially inaugurated the renovated Lepanto station on the Metro A line. The revitalization project, managed in collaboration with IGPDecaux, included replacing 2,100 square meters of flooring with high-resistance non-slip resin, restoring travertine walls and ceilings, and completely renewing the lighting systems to improve accessibility and functionality.

A central feature of the redesign is the “Albero delle identità” (Tree of Identities) artwork, created through a collaboration between local student groups, various associations, and the Happy Coaching and Counseling Association.

While the station reopening marks a milestone, concerns remain regarding the broader Metro A network. Commuters await a definitive schedule for the renovation of subsequent stations on the line. Additionally, ATAC officials have noted ongoing operational challenges, including staffing shortages and issues with train frequency and scheduled routes.
