Rome officials demand odor monitoring at biomethane plant
In Rome, officials from Municipio XV are demanding urgent action regarding odor emissions allegedly linked to a biomethane plant under construction on via Braccianese Claudia. President Daniele Torquati has renewed requests to ARPA Lazio, ASL Roma 1, and the Città Metropolitana for updated monitoring, specific control activities, and odor measurement campaigns to determine the origin and extent of the issue.
Separately, in Benevento, the operator of a biomethane plant in contrada San Domenico reported that the emptying of biomass is nearing completion. Following recent controversies regarding odors, the company stated that approximately 500 tons of biomass remain outdoors. The company plans to transport the remaining organic material to authorized treatment plants at a rate of roughly 10 trips per week, expecting to finish the removal within two weeks.
