Rome plaque dedicated to partisan Antonio Ambroselli vandalized
A commemorative plaque dedicated to partisan and financier Antonio Ambroselli was vandalized in the VI Municipio of Rome. The act involved using black spray paint to cover the word ‘Resistenza’ on the plaque located in the Grotte Celoni area.
Massimiliano Smeriglio, Rome's Councilor for Culture, condemned the incident as a ‘vile fascist act’ and stated that the city would act promptly to restore the plaque. The memorial, which was installed in October 2025 to honor Ambroselli—a member of the Guardia di Finanza who served during the resistance—was placed in coordination with his family and the local ANPI branch. The matter has been reported to the local police for investigation.
