Rome police arrest three suspects in robbery of Canadian tourists

Three Tunisian nationals, aged 21, 24, and 25, have been arrested by the Carabinieri following a robbery targeting a Canadian family in Rome. The incident occurred around 1:50 AM on the Lungotevere Aventino, near via di San Francesco a Ripa.

The victims, a family of four with ages ranging from 19 to 57, were approached from behind while walking. The assailants used force to immobilize the group and stole a mobile phone, two necklaces, and a bracelet. The stolen items were subsequently recovered and returned to the owners, who reported no physical injuries.

Authorities intercepted the three suspects shortly after the crime through a patrol from the Roma Piazza Venezia Command. The suspects, who were already known to law enforcement, were recognized by the victims. Investigations are ongoing to locate a fourth accomplice who fled the scene on foot. In response, the Carabinieri have increased patrols in nightlife areas and major tourist locations to prevent similar predatory crimes.
