Rome police arrest woman after tourist robbed near Trevi Fountain

A 21-year-old tourist was robbed of a gold chain near the Trevi Fountain in central Rome during the early hours of the morning. The incident occurred around 2:00 AM in Via delle Muratte, when a group approached the victim under the pretext of asking for a cigarette.

After the victim refused the request, the group surrounded him and forcibly snatched the jewelry from his neck. Following the theft, the group attempted to flee, but the victim managed to encounter a patrol from the Local Police of Rome Capital.

Police officers intercepted the group near Via del Tritone. A 22-year-old Italian woman was arrested for evasion, resistance, and receiving stolen goods after she was found in possession of the broken chain. Three other individuals—two Egyptian men and one Tunisian man—were reported for theft with force. Authorities are currently verifying the legal status of the men involved.
