Rome police raid illegal camps, seize katana and arrest nine people

Italian police carried out a coordinated raid on three illegal settlements in Rome (via Salviati, Gordiani and Candoni). The operation involved units from the State Police, the Mobile Brigade, the scientific police and immigration officials. Authorities identified 621 residents, seized 150 vehicles and removed three tonnes of waste. Nine people were arrested, including a Bosnian‑origin suspect who was placed in immigration detention, and a katana measuring 98 cm was confiscated and the holder charged with illegal weapon possession.

A separate police sweep in Ostia’s Acque Rosse area targeted illegal encampments, domestic violence and theft. Four arrests were made, more than 400 people were identified and 267 vehicles inspected. Police dismantled three makeshift camps, seized tools used for break‑ins and intervened in a domestic‑violence incident involving a Ukrainian woman. The actions were supported by the local AMA waste service and the financial police.
