Rome police rescue man from bridge suicide attempt
Police officers from the Prati precinct and the mobile unit of the Rome police responded to a call about a suicide attempt near Castel Sant'Angelo. They located a man perched on a narrow beam over a void, visibly agitated and under the influence of alcohol and psychotropic drugs.
Officers Stefano, Lorenzo, Valerio and another Stefano divided duties, securing the area while two of them climbed over the parapet to reach the man. After a prolonged dialogue, they persuaded him to step down, escorted him to a safe position, and arranged for medical assistance. The man was taken to a hospital for treatment.
No injuries were reported among the officers or the public, and the incident ended with the rescued individual expressing gratitude.
