Rome police shut down two illegal residences in Ostiense

The Rome Police Department has ordered the immediate closure of two unauthorized hospitality structures in the Ostiense district. The crackdown follows investigations into discrepancies between online advertisements and actual operations.

While the properties were marketed on digital platforms as hotels, residences, or bed and breakfasts, authorities discovered they were operating as unauthorized room rentals. The investigation, triggered by reports regarding guest identification and tax documentation, revealed that entire apartments were being subdivided into more rooms than permitted. Specifically, apartments were divided into four rooms despite a six-bed capacity limit.

The facilities, managed by two Roman residents, relied heavily on self-check-in systems using external key boxes. The Questore of Rome has ordered the cessation of all activities under Article 100 of the TULPS, and the closure will remain in effect until the necessary legal authorizations are obtained.
