Rome prepares to launch new Urbos tram fleet

Rome is preparing to introduce new red Urbos trams to its public transport network, with service expected to begin in December following current testing phases. The city has purchased 121 new vehicles as part of a fleet renewal project aimed at increasing capacity and accessibility.

Each new tram is designed to carry 215 passengers, including 68 seats, and features automatic ramps to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. While the new fleet promises a more modern transit system, questions remain regarding the city's ability to maintain punctuality, manage maintenance, and minimize service disruptions during the rollout.
