Lazio investigation probes alleged market manipulation of club shares

The Rome Prosecutor's Office is conducting an investigation into potential market manipulation involving SS Lazio. Authorities are examining whether a coordinated effort was made to pressure club president Claudio Lotito into selling his controlling stake in the club through the dissemination of false information.

During recent hearings, manager Luigi Bisignani testified that he never intended for his articles to influence the stock market. He also claimed that Lotito had previously rejected an offer from J. P. Morgan. However, Lotito's legal counsel, Gian Michele Gentile, has denied any business or personal relationship between Lotito and Bisignani, and characterized the alleged J. P. Morgan negotiations as an invention.

The investigation involves allegations that Mauro Masi, Francesco Maiolini, and Bisignani contributed to spreading unfounded news regarding Lotito's intentions to sell his shares and his plans for the team.
