Rome Prosecutor investigates potential Italian links in Epstein Files
The Rome Prosecutor's Office has opened a formal investigation into the Epstein Files under the hypothesis of sexual violence. Coordinated by Deputy Prosecutor Maurizio Arcuri, the inquiry seeks to determine if Italian citizens abroad or individuals operating within Italy were involved in crimes such as human trafficking, sexual exploitation, or sexual violence connected to Jeffrey Epstein's network.
To support the investigation, Roman magistrates have issued a rogatory to the U.S. Department of Justice to obtain documentation, including records that have not yet been made public. The probe was prompted by a report filed on March 26 by the association Differenza Donna, which highlighted significant references in existing documents to Italian locations, including Capri, the Amalfi Coast, Costa Smeralda, Milan, and Rome.
Lapo Elkann has addressed the matter, stating that the association of his name with Jeffrey Epstein is ‘unacceptable’ in the absence of evidence. Elkann clarified that he met Epstein twice—once in New York and once in Rome—but denied any involvement in illegal activities and expressed his full availability to authorities.
