Rome protesters march against San Palomba incinerator project

Protesters in Rome are organizing a demonstration titled “Il Futuro non si Brucia” (The Future Does Not Burn) to oppose the construction of an incinerator in San Palomba. The protest, scheduled for October 3 at 10:30 AM, is led by various associations, including the Rete Tutela Roma Sud.

Organizers have accused Rome Mayor Gualtieri and the Democratic Party (PD) of betraying voters regarding waste management policies. The movement claims the project prioritizes economic interests over public health and the environment. Specifically, critics have pointed to the involvement of Vianini Lavori, a company within the Caltagirone Group, as part of the economic framework behind the waste-to-energy project. The demonstrators intend to call upon the national government to take responsibility for the decisions affecting the city's future.
