Rome to host 2027 World Rally Championship stage
Rome has been confirmed as the host for a stage of the 2027 World Rally Championship (WRC), marking a significant shift in the Italian leg of the competition. The event, scheduled to take place from July 8 to July 11, 2027, will see the competition move from Sardinia to the Lazio region.
The rally is set to feature a symbolic start at the Colosseum before proceeding through the roads of Lazio, including potential routes through the provinces of Rieti and Frosinone. This transition marks the end of a twenty-year period where Sardinia served as the primary host for the WRC in Italy.
Elena Palazzo, the Lazio Regional Councilor for Tourism, Environment, Sport, and Sustainability, described the announcement as the result of collaborative work between the Lazio Region, ACI, and organizer Max Rendina. The move is intended to promote the territory and showcase its beauty on a global stage through high-profile international motorsport.
