Rome celebrates centenary of Barcarolo Romano at Teatro Marconi

The Teatro Marconi in Rome will host a series of performances from September 10 to 13, 2026, to celebrate the centenary of the “Barcarolo Romano”. Written in 1926 by Romolo Balzani and Pio Pizzicaria, the song was a winner of the historic San Giovanni musical competition.

Maestro Paolo Gatti will lead the tribute, aiming to recreate the sounds and atmosphere of Roman tradition. He will be joined by Sharon Alessandri in a production designed to honor the cultural history of Rome's neighborhoods and people through music. The event serves as a journey into popular Roman culture, marking 100 years since the song's creation.
