Rome traffic slows on July 28 due to road incidents and on July 29 as Viale America closes for works

On July 28 2026, traffic in Rome experienced slowdowns on the Raccordo Anulare, with congestion from the Ostia‑Acilia exit to the Tuscolana lane and additional queues between the Flaminia‑Salaria and Laurentina‑Pontina exits. Several incidents were reported on Via della Storta, Via Traversella, Via Raffaele Costi and in the eastern suburbs, causing delays near Corso Francia and the Tiburtina station.

The following day, July 29 2026, a section of Viale America in the Eur district was closed to traffic from 06:00 to 16:00 to allow demolition and reconstruction work. Nine ATAC bus lines (070, 31, 700, 706, 709, 724, 762, 763, 772) and private operators were diverted to alternative routes via Viale Europa and Viale dell’Arte, potentially lengthening travel times for commuters.
