Romelu Lukaku faces form struggles at Fenerbahçe and uncertain national team role

Romelu Lukaku is facing significant challenges at Fenerbahçe, where he has struggled to find form since joining from Napoli. Despite a transfer fee of approximately six million euros plus bonuses, the striker has yet to record a goal or an assist in seven official matches. During a recent appearance against Gaziantep, Lukaku started for the first time but was substituted after 64 minutes following a lackluster performance.

Belgium national team coach Mark van Bommel has addressed Lukaku's current situation, noting that while the striker remains a vital asset due to his unique qualities, a guaranteed starting role in the national team is not certain for the time being. Van Bommel stated, “He will not start in the basis four times,” acknowledging that Lukaku's current status at Fenerbahçe must be taken into account. However, Van Bommel expressed confidence that Lukaku will eventually secure a starting position, emphasizing that his selection is based on specific technical qualities rather than just experience or leadership.
