Romelu Lukaku Transfer Saga: Napoli, Fenerbahçe and Monaco in Pursuit
Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku, 33, is listed for sale by SSC Napoli after a season marred by injuries and limited playing time – he appeared in only seven matches and scored once. Napoli has set a price of around €10 million and is eager to free up his €11 million salary.
Multiple clubs have shown interest. Turkish side Fenerbahçe has been reported to be negotiating a possible €10 million deal and is monitoring the situation closely, while Trabzonspor is also said to have made a serious offer. French club AS Monaco is evaluating Lukaku as a replacement for Folarin Balogun, noting that the €10 million fee fits its budget but financial oversight by the DNCG could limit the offer. Other potential destinations mentioned include the Saudi Pro League, MLS and a possible return to Belgium’s Anderlecht, though high wages and Napoli’s retained sell‑on clause complicate a move.
Lukaku himself has expressed a desire to continue playing in Europe, stating “SÜPER LİG'E GELMEK İSTİYOR” (he wants to come to the Super League) when discussing a possible move to Turkey. The transfer window remains open, and negotiations are expected to continue into the summer.
