Romelu Lukaku joins Fenerbahçe from Napoli on permanent transfer

Romelu Lukaku has completed a permanent transfer from Napoli to the Turkish club Fenerbahçe. The deal, valued at a fixed fee of 6 million euros plus 3 million in bonuses, allows Napoli to reduce its wage bill significantly. Lukaku has signed a three-year contract through June 2027, with an option for an additional year.

While Lukaku expressed his ambition to play as soon as possible, including in upcoming Champions League qualifiers against Olympique Lyonnais, his physical integration is being managed carefully. Fenerbahçe's technical staff has implemented a specialized program to ensure he reaches peak fitness without injury risk. Consequently, he missed Fenerbahçe's recent 2-1 loss to Gençlerbirliği.

Reports from Lukaku's legal representative indicate that the player was not the driving force behind the move; rather, Napoli sought to offload his high salary to fund other transfers. Additionally, rumors of a return to Anderlecht were dismissed, as the player's priority was remaining at a high competitive level.
