Romelu Lukaku vows to stay with Belgium until 2030 World Cup
Belgium’s all‑time top scorer Romelu Lukaku said he has no plans to retire from the national team. In interviews he declared his intention to play in at least two major tournaments after the 2026 World Cup and to remain eligible for the 2030 World Cup, when he will be 37. Despite a recent season plagued by injuries, the 33‑year‑old striker said he is maintaining his fitness to prolong his international career.
Lukaku also criticised the tenure of coach Domenico Tedesco, arguing that the tactical plan failed and that former French striker Thierry Henry would have been a more suitable head coach. He expressed frustration over the selection process during the Euro 2024 campaign, but stressed his continued motivation to wear the Belgium shirt.
The comments aim to reassure fans and signal that experienced players will still feature for the Red Devils in upcoming major tournaments.
