Romeo Arcuschin suspended 20 months for anti-doping violation
Argentine tennis player Romeo Arcuschin has been suspended for 20 months following an anti-doping rule violation. The 19-year-old will be unable to compete until October 17, 2027.
The violation stemmed from a sample collected on December 15, 2025, during the ITF World Tennis Tour M15 tournament in Lima, Peru. Testing revealed the presence of stanozolol and clomifene, both prohibited substances. While Arcuschin admitted to the presence of these substances, he could not reach an agreement with the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) regarding his level of responsibility, leading to a hearing before an independent tribunal on August 11.
The tribunal determined that the violations were unintentional. Evidence showed that following an injury, surgery, and rehabilitation, Arcuschin consulted a sports physician who prescribed a 30-day treatment containing the prohibited substances. The tribunal noted that the physician failed to inform the player about the substances and provided the medication in unlabeled containers. Consequently, the degree of fault was reduced, resulting in the 20-month sanction.
