Romeo Lavia makes Belgium starting debut amid Nations League loss

Midfielder Romeo Lavia has marked his return to the Belgium national team following a lengthy absence due to injury. After appearing as a substitute in a 2-0 Nations League victory against Italy, Lavia earned his first start for the squad in a subsequent match against France.

Despite Lavia’s impressive performance in his starting debut, Belgium suffered a late 0-1 defeat to France following a goal by Michael Olise. Lavia expressed disappointment regarding the result, stating, “If the result is disappointing, I would rather not talk about myself. I am disappointed.” The loss marks the first defeat for Belgium under new manager Mark van Bommel.
