Jude Bellingham and Cristian Romero clash in heated Madrid derby

During the Madrid derby at the Metropolitano, Atletico Madrid defeated Real Madrid 2-1 in a match marked by intense player confrontations and disciplinary actions.

Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham and Atletico Madrid defender Cristian Romero were involved in a heated verbal exchange following a VAR-reviewed incident where Romero was cautioned for a foul on Bellingham. Reports indicate Bellingham made references to Lionel Messi, allegedly telling Romero, “With Messi you talk a lot, and here nothing,” while calling him a “coward.” Romero reportedly responded by calling Bellingham a “crybaby” and referencing England’s loss to Argentina in the 2026 World Cup semifinal.

Bellingham also had a confrontation with Giuliano Simeone during the match. Following the game, the RFEF Disciplinary Commission issued sanctions to several players, including Bellingham and Romero, for dangerous play. Atletico secured the victory with goals from Alejandro Grimaldo and Jonathan David, while Antonio Rudiger scored a late goal for Real Madrid.
