Rome's Jasmine Walk faces criticism after plant deaths
One year after its inauguration by Rome Mayor Roberto Gualtieri, the 'Passeggiata del Gelsomino' (Jasmine Walk) near San Pietro station is facing criticism due to the death of its namesake plants.
Daniele Giannini, a representative of the Lega party and former president of Municipio XIII, reported that the jasmine plants, which were intended to provide a unique summer atmosphere, are now largely dry and dead. Giannini characterized the situation as a failure of urban maintenance, noting that the plants appear burnt and have failed to bloom.
In addition to the issues with the jasmine, concerns were raised regarding the maintenance of other local areas, including the Pineto playground and Villa Celimontana, where benches are reportedly overgrown with grass.
