Speranza Scappucci to lead MiTo festival; Fitzcarraldo opera returns to Rome
Speranza Scappucci has been appointed as the artistic director for the 20th edition of the MiTo music festival, held in Milan and Turin from September 6 to 20. Under the theme of Harmonia, the festival aims to celebrate musical diversity and will feature performances such as Britten’s War Requiem conducted by Simone Young.
In Rome, the traveling opera Fitzcarraldo is set to return to the Tiber River. Scheduled from September 2 to 5, 2026, this unique production, conceived by Fabio Morgan with musical direction by Francesco Leineri, uses a moving boat to transform the city's monuments and bridges into a natural stage. The project, supported by Roma Capitale and the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, allows spectators to experience the opera both on board and from the riverbanks.
