Rome’s AMA provides over 91,000 extra waste services in 2025 Jubilee
A study presented at Luiss Business School in Rome measured the impact of the 2025 Jubilee on municipal waste management. AMA, the city’s waste operator, delivered about 850,000 services in 2025, including more than 91,000 additional collections, street‑cleaning and bin‑emptying operations specifically for the Jubilee.
The city produced 1.69 million tonnes of waste, a 3.3 % increase over the previous year, while hosting 36 million pilgrims (108 million total visits). AMA used a digital‑twin platform, UCRONIA, to monitor its fleet in real time and coordinate resources. Citizen complaints fell 35.6 % compared with 2024, indicating that service quality was maintained despite the surge.
Bruno Manzi, AMA president, said the Jubilee “allowed us to measure our capacity during an exceptional year” and highlighted the model’s potential as a benchmark for other urban contexts.
