Romeu Zema launches presidential campaign in Minas Gerais

Romeu Zema, the former governor of Minas Gerais and candidate for the Novo party, officially launched his presidential campaign in Montes Claros. His platform focuses on three main pillars: combating corruption, controlling public spending, and addressing organized crime through enhanced public security.

Zema proposed significant changes to criminal legislation and the construction of a ‘super-prison’ in the North region specifically for criminal faction leaders. He criticized the current judicial system, stating, ‘The problem with Brazil is that criminals stay free. Our Military Police arrest, and the Justice system releases.’ He also targeted the Supreme Federal Court (STF), making indirect references to specific ministers and their financial dealings.

Regarding foreign policy, Zema criticized the current administration's diplomatic approach, particularly its relationship with the United States. He expressed a desire for a unified right-wing front in a potential second-round runoff, stating he would support any candidate opposing the PT party.
