Romgaz authorized to acquire Azomureş chemical fertilizer assets

The Romanian Competition Council has authorized the acquisition of certain assets from Azomureş SA by SNGN Romgaz SA. The transaction involves assets used in the production of chemical fertilizers and industrial products, as well as the transfer of necessary contracts and employees.

In its analysis, the competition authority considered Romgaz's plans for organizing the acquired activities to ensure they operate under market conditions while complying with competition and state aid legislation.

SNGN Romgaz SA is Romania's primary natural gas producer, involved in exploration, production, marketing, and electricity generation. Azomureş SA, part of the Ameropa group, specializes in the production and marketing of nitrogen-based fertilizers. Following the transaction, Romgaz's Board of Directors approved the establishment of a new branch, Sucursala Târgu Mureş Azomureş, focused on manufacturing basic organic chemical products.
