Romi-Isetta to celebrate 70 years as Brazil's first manufactured car

A national meeting will be held in Santa Bárbara d’Oeste, São Paulo, to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Romi-Isetta, recognized as the first car manufactured in Brazil. The event is scheduled for September 5, 2026, at the Fundação Romi.

The celebration will include a historical exhibition, a parade, musical attractions, and a display of technical drawings, documents, and historical photographs. The Romi-Isetta was produced following an initiative by Américo Emílio Romi and Carlos Chiti, who secured a license to produce the Italian Iso Isetta model locally.

Production began in 1956 with a 72% nationalization rate. The vehicle featured a unique single front door and was powered by a 236 cm³ two-stroke engine. The first official launch and sale occurred on September 5, 1956, marking a significant milestone for the Brazilian automotive industry.
