Romina Contreras named Mexico’s highest‑rated mayor in latest poll

Huixquilucan municipal president Romina Contreras Carrasco was ranked the top mayor in Mexico by the June 2026 Trending Poll, receiving an 83.9 % citizen approval rating. The poll, based on 800 automated telephone interviews per municipality between 17 and 25 June, placed her first among all mayors nationwide.

Statistical Research Corporation’s concurrent survey gave her a 68.7 % performance score, placing her first in the State of Mexico and second at the national level. Contreras highlighted the municipality’s 54 consecutive first‑place rankings within the State of Mexico and 27 times at the national level, attributing the results to public works, security, health, education, efficient services, transparency, and sound finances.

She said, “Estas cifras reflejan el compromiso que, desde hace años, tenemos con los huixquiluquenses para llevarles servicios públicos de calidad y tener un manejo adecuado de toda la administración y de las finanzas.” The rankings are based on surveys with a 95 % confidence level and a margin of error around 3.5‑3.8 %.
