Romina Contreras ranked as Mexico's highest-rated mayor

Romina Contreras Carrasco, the municipal president of Huixquilucan, has been ranked as the highest-rated mayor in Mexico according to the Ranking of Mayors of Medium-Sized Cities. The study, conducted by the polling firm Campaigns and Elections (C&E), gave Contreras a 64 percent approval rating, the highest among 54 evaluated mayors for the month of August.

Contreras attributed the results to her administration's focus on public works in the State of Mexico, the stabilization of public finances, and social development for vulnerable groups. She emphasized a governance model that addresses security, infrastructure, medical services, education, and ecology across the traditional, popular, and residential zones of the municipality.

The survey methodology involved 14,800 automated telephone interviews nationwide conducted between August 20 and August 24, 2026, with a margin of error of ±4.5 and a 95 percent confidence level.
