Romina Pourmokhtari campaigns for Liberal Party ahead of Swedish election

Liberal Party politician and Climate and Environment Minister Romina Pourmokhtari is campaigning for the upcoming election, despite her long-standing criticisms of the Sweden Democrats (SD).

Pourmokhtari, who previously described SD as having ‘racist nuts with Nazi roots’ in 2018, stated that while she has not changed her opinions regarding the party, she is willing to work within a government that includes them. She emphasized that as a politician, one must look at the actual problems facing Sweden rather than focusing solely on ideological reasoning.

She noted that the Liberal Party has successfully influenced SD on climate policy, specifically regarding reduction mandates. Pourmokhtari expressed that the party's survival in the Riksdag is critical and indicated she would not rule out serving as a minister again in a coalition involving the Sweden Democrats.
