Rompetrol Rafinare to increase Petromidia storage capacity by 20%
Rompetrol Rafinare is executing a multi-year modernization program at its Petromidia refinery in Năvodari, targeting five storage tanks for raw materials and petroleum products. The company expects these investments to increase total storage capacity by 20%.
One completed project involved the reconstruction of a distillate tank, increasing its capacity from 5,000 to 6,000 cubic meters. Future expansions include increasing a gasoline tank from 5,000 to 6,000 cubic meters and two diesel/component tanks from 10,000 to 12,000 cubic meters each. Additionally, a 57,000 cubic meter crude oil tank is currently undergoing modernization.
General Manager Sorin Graure stated that the focus is on critical storage infrastructure to ensure operational reliability, reduce maintenance costs, and extend equipment lifespan. The projects utilize innovative methods, such as hydraulic jacks, to improve safety and efficiency during construction.
