Ron Butterworth, long-serving Goulburn High School teacher, dies at 102

Ron Kenneth Butterworth, a highly regarded educator at Goulburn High School, passed away peacefully at the Waminda Aged Care facility on Wednesday, October 21. He was 102 years old.

Mr. Butterworth taught economics and commerce at Goulburn High School from 1958 to 1984. He was remembered by former colleagues and students for his compassion, empathy, and leadership style. Former teacher Steve Chapman described him as an “amazing head teacher” who led without micromanaging and lived by his values.

Born in Goulburn on September 10, 1924, Mr. Butterworth was a lifelong resident of the area. He had lived at the Waminda facility since 2016.
