Following recent Republican midterm election losses, the newspaper cited anonymous sources suggesting DeSantis had contacted political consultants to discuss a potential comeback.

DeSantis dismissed the claims on social media, calling the report “completely fabricated” and an attempt to generate clicks. He stated he has not contacted anyone regarding a run for any office.

In separate remarks regarding the midterm elections, DeSantis described the Republican losses as a “meteor impact” that could affect the party for years. While noting that Florida Republicans maintained control of key state positions, he warned that the national party must move beyond relying on individual charisma and instead focus on clear policy advantages to remain competitive in future cycles.
