Ronal Longa wins 100m gold at Félix Sánchez Classic
Colombian sprinter Ronal Longa won the gold medal in the 100-meter dash at the Félix Sánchez Classic in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The event was part of the World Athletics Continental Tour silver category.
In the final, Longa clocked a time of 9.84 seconds, finishing ahead of Jamaica’s Kadrian Goldson (9.90 seconds) and Ghana’s Abdul-Rasheed Saminu (9.94 seconds). Although the time was highly competitive, it cannot be officially ratified as a national or South American record due to a tailwind of 2.4 meters per second.
Longa’s performance follows a strong 2026 season, which includes a 9.85-second mark in Medellín and a gold medal at the Central American and Caribbean Games. This victory reinforces his position among the continent's top sprinters as he prepares for the upcoming South American Games in September.
