Ronald Acuña Jr. avoids fracture after shin injury

Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. avoided a serious injury after being struck in the left shin by a foul ball during a game against the Cincinnati Reds at Truist Park. While the impact caused immediate pain and forced him to leave the game, medical examinations including X-rays and CT scans confirmed there are no fractures or structural damage.

The injury has been diagnosed as a severe shin contusion. Although Acuña Jr. expressed readiness to play, Braves manager Walt Weiss opted to remove him from the lineup as a precaution to prevent further injury or compensation issues. The team expects him to potentially return to the lineup as early as Thursday, with no current concerns regarding his availability for the postseason.
