Ronald Acuña Jr. listed day-to-day after shin injury
Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. left Tuesday night’s game against the Cincinnati Reds after being struck in the left shin by a foul ball. The injury occurred during the third inning on a pitch from Brandon Williamson. While Acuña was visibly in pain and limped to the dugout, the Braves later announced that X-rays and a CT scan were negative for serious damage.
Acuña has been listed as day-to-day with a left shin contusion. Manager Walt Weiss expressed relief regarding the news, noting that the player is expected to be available for the upcoming postseason. This injury comes at a critical time as the Braves prepare for the playoffs following their National League East title win.
Separately, Acuña recently reached a significant career milestone by recording his third professional 20-20 season (at least 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases). He joins an elite group of Venezuelan players, including Bob Abreu, Carlos González, and José Altuve, to achieve this feat. His recent performance has been strong, highlighted by a grand slam against the Houston Astros and a September batting average of .342.
