Ronald Donkor reacts to first Ghana national team call-up

New York Red Bulls midfielder Ronald Donkor has expressed his excitement following his first senior call-up to the Ghana national team, the Black Stars. The 21-year-old midfielder was included in the squad for the September international window ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia.

Donkor, who began his career at the JMG Academy in Mali, noted that he waited for the official squad announcement before celebrating the news. He expressed a desire to win trophies and represent his country with pride. The call-up also allows him to reunite with former academy teammates Alidu Seidu and Augustine Boakye.
